Celem artykułu jest ukazanie, w jaki sposób język polski był obecny podczas celebracji eucharystycznych w okresie bezpośrednio poprzedzającym reformę liturgiczną zainicjowaną przez Sobór Watykański II (1962–1965). Autor opisuje powszechną w Polsce praktykę śpiewania pieśni religijnych i śpiewów liturgicznych w języku narodowym. Omawia ponadto przedsoborowe prawodawstwo Kościoła powszechnego i polskiego regulujące kwestię użycia języka narodowego w liturgii.
The aim of the paper is to present how the Polish language was present during the Eucharistic celebrations in the period immediately preceding the liturgical reform initiated by the Second Vatican Council (1962–1965). The author describes the practice of singing religious and liturgical chants in vernacular language which was widespread in Poland. He discusses also the pre-conciliar legislation of the universal and Polish Church concerning the use of the vernacular language in the liturgy.
