Streszczenie:
During World War II the diocese of Przemyśl functioned in difficult conditions of the two Systems: national socialism and communism, the aim of which was to destroy the Catholic Church. The attitude of the clergy led by Bishop F. Barda and the generosity of the faithful madę it possible for diocesan structures and institutions to function. Thanks to "sharing authority" between Ordinary F. Barda and Suffragan Bishop W. Tomaka, both parts of the diocese separated by a border between the Third Reich and the Soviet Union (1939-1941) could be smoothly managed, and both of the mentioned bishops had curias and courts in their parts of the diocese. Creating Theological Seminary in Brzozów guaranteed thè new influx of the clergy. In addition, the cathedral chapter functioned as well as the conditions allowed. Despite the difficult conditions of war, there were territorial structures of the diocesan Church. The following article presents Bishop Franiszek Barda’s conduct in that period and his concem for the diocese.
