Abstract

Ancient systems of thought when analyzing politics pointed out at the language as one of its main elements. The specific place for making politics in those times was „agora” – the space for the public debate, where a politician could speak on public problems. The author of the article describes different subtypes of the political language: the language of propaganda and of diplomacy. He shows then how the language of politics is used in persuasion and in political manipulation. This kind of language is one of the elements of the political culture and is one of the criteria of measuring its quality. By analyzing the political language we can most easily define the quality of the political culture of any given social group.
