Abstract:
Contemporary ecological movements are looking for a theoretical and philosophical support. Most philosophical theories are not especially interested in surveing multiple of reciprocal relations between man and nature. However there are some which try to explain why we should take care of our environment. In this article I mention pragmatism, classical Aristotelian-Thomistic philosophy, some ontological presumptions of natural sciences, Gaia hypothesis and thought of Teilhard de Chardin. I also try to argue that the classical philosophy is the best base for the ecological philosophy.
