„Oto wielki tłum” (Ap 7,9) – tryumf Kościoła według Ap 7,1-17

Abstract

Autor artykułu postawił sobie za cel eksplorację motywów eklezjologicznych w Ap 7,1-17. Najpierw ukazuje ulokowanie tej perykopy w szerszym kontekście narracyjnym sąsiednich rozdziałów. Następnie syntetycznie referuje hipotezy komentatorów Apokalipsy św. Jana odnośnie do tożsamości 144 tys. opieczętowanych w Ap 7,1-8 oraz wielkiego tłumu, o którym mowa w Ap 7,9-17. Pierwsza z tych perykop przedstawia w opinii autora Kościół ziemski wszystkich miejsc i czasów, druga zaś Kościół tryumfujący w czasach eschatologicznych w chwale nieba, trwający radośnie w liturgii Niebieskiego Jeruzalem. Poza tym autor analizuje kilka obecnych w tekście Ap 7,1-17 motywów eklezjologicznych dopełniających szczegóły obrazu ecclesia militans i ecclesia triumphans.

The article entitled „Behold a great multitude” (Rev 7,9) – triumph of the Church according to Rev 7,1-17” aims at exploring ecclesiological motifs in the indicated passage of the Book of Revelation. First the author shows how the passage is located in the narrative context of the neighboring chapters. Then synthetically reports hypotheses of the commentators on the Revelation concerning the identity of the 144 thousands sealed in 7,1-8 and the great multitude (crowd) in 7,9-17. According to the author of the article, the first passage exhibits the Church of all places and times in the history of Christianity. The second scene portrays the triumphant Church in the eschatological glory of the Heavenly Jerusalem where the great multitude worships God. The last part of the article is dedicated to exploring other crucial ecclesiological motifs in Rev 7, 1-17 that supplement the images of the ecclesia militans and ecclesia triumphans.
