dc.description.abstract The christocentric character of the consecrated life means that it is concentrated in the special way on Christ. The monastic life comes from Christ because He is a Creator and the final norm of it; through Christ because He deals with His call and leads to His Father; in Christ as the primary duty of every monk is to persevere in Christ. The way leading to the union with Christ is first of all putting in practice the following Gospel advices: purity, poverty and obedience. The deep prayful and sacramental life leads to the full mature in Christ. Carrying our everyday life cross, renunciation and ascetism as the factors of the participation in the saving work of Christ is the way to unite with the Son of God. The existence of monasteries themselves tells about the powerful grace of Christ and because of that they are the accurate and emphatic testimony of the Church. Monks as these who „follow Christ” are the significant representatives of the Church. Thanks to their living in Christ in the world of secular people and bringing these people Christ they are His apostles. Making monks being alive to their responsibility of being „witnesses in the Church” (KK 46) is the fundamental aim of the permanent and continuous monastic formation. pl_PL
